Worry About Blood Sugar Levels

Posted on August 24, 2010 | Category: Featured, Health Trivia

Needing to worry about things like blood sugar levels and cholesterol numbers and triglycerides means that a person is most likely in their upper forties and close to fifty and a lifetime of eating and exercise choices is catching up with them. Those things are usually indicative of a sedentary lifestyle and a diet that includes far too much fast food and other types of processed foods. The way to get these numbers looking better and relieving one of needing to worry about them is fairly simple, but the implementation is often difficult.

The solution is to exercise more and eat better. A very simple prescription, yet one that is enormously hard to stick to. Just adding exercise of any kind to an already busy life will take willpower and a commitment to make changes in a daily schedule—and this is just to start walking on a regular basis every day. Walking is a good place to start on the path to better blood sugar levels because it doesn’t take any special equipment, no gym fees and no special training or skills, just put on a pair of comfortable shoes and get moving. Exercise will help burn glucose because the muscles that keep the body moving require it for fuel and the more a person moves the more glucose gets used as fuel and the lower level there is to circulate in the blood stream.

Changing the diet to include more fresh vegetables and fruits and less processed foods may be more difficult to accomplish than starting a new walking program . Old habits die hard and learning to like new things takes some time and proper motivation. Striving for good blood sugar levels and good test levels for the other categories will hopefully be motivation enough to get out of the food rut and back on the path to good health.
