What Heartworm Medication To Use

With so many different options for heartworm meds it is often hard for owners who have not used one for their pets before to know just what to pick. There are many discount heartworm medication options open to us so let’s take a look at what may be the best possible choice.

We really need to base our decision on whether or not we wish to buy a combination medication or not. We will find that we can either buy just a heartworm medicine or we can buy one that will also treat for fleas. There are heartworm tablets for Dogs or external liquid applications.

For many pet owners the choice is a simple one. They use a flea medication for part of the year so it makes sense to combine the two. Flea meds are expensive on their own so we should see if we can save money by combining this with our heartworm meds.

We will find that for the same price as just a popular flea medication we can get products like Revolution or Advantage Multi. These are topical applications that are applied just like Frontline is, and are about eh same price. Si it really does make sense to use one of these instead. But if fleas are never a problem then we can buy a cheaper product like Heartgard and simply treat to ensure that our pets never develop adult heartworms which can be a real problem if left.

A simple pill once a month will ensure that our pets sty in fine health and we never have to worry about what will happen if the heartworms are left untreated. The heartworm medication on its own is very inexpensive so it really does make sense to give a pill once a month for as much as the year as we possibly can.
