All hunters need good tools to help get the job done properly. Hunting knives have been around for thousands of years and have proven themselves to be a good quality and reliable type of knife. There are many kinds of hunter knives and the one you choose should depend on what jobs you are going to be using the knife for.
Fixed blade knifes always have the blade that remains in a permanent position, it can’t be folded so it usually comes with a sheath so it can be carried safely. These blades are known for their strength and durability compared to folding knives because the entire knife handle is run reinforced by metal.
Folding blades are a well known alternative to fixed knifes. Although they aren’t usually as strong, they are much smaller which makes them easier to carry around. Some folding knives can even hold multiple blades that can be used on different kinds of jobs. It uses a lock and pivot point mechanism to open the blade and then fold it back to the handle.
A drop point knife is best for those who hunt large game. They come with a very large blade made from thickened steel, making it very easy to skin animals. A drop point knife causes very little damage to the meat while skinning and can also be used for other tasks like splitting the bones.
The Clip Point is much thinner and sharper than a drop point blade. This knife is usually used for general work duties, it isn’t as efficient as custom hunting knives but it can still be used to skin animals along with many other uses. Because of its versatility, a clip point is a great choice for casual hunters that don’t work with large prey. With a clip point you will also only need one knife that can be used for all purposes.
