The Canon Selphy CP760 may be basic in appearance but it certainly does not lack in impressive features. Finished in white but with color accents to its control buttons, this printer will easily blend into a living room or a study. It can be connected up to a PC or it can be used on its own.
One apparent feature of this printer is its large LCD panel. This is deep-set into the top panel and is on a slight angle to make for easier viewing. The LCD panel is complemented by five control buttons arranged in the shape of a diamond along with a further four buttons which enable you to print, bring up the menu, back-out and turn the device on and off.
The printer features three slots for memory cards of a number of mediums, including SD and CompactFlash. An optional adapter is required to support Fujifilm’s xD format. On the device’s left-hand side, a special flip-down cover conceals the film cartridge. This constitutes the machine’s only consumable, not including paper. In addition to this, on its left-hand side sockets can be found to enable the connection of a PC or a PictBridge camera cable.
If the CP760 will only be used to print images from a memory card or from a camera, there will only be a few installation requirements. These include inserting the film cartridge, loading the cassette with the paper blanks and plugging the cassette into the printer’s front. The paper cassette of this printer is almost double the size of the printer’s footprint when it is in its correct position.
Canon claims that they have enhanced the firmware in their printer to automatically pick out faces and exact their brightness. Red-eye can be removed from a photo without the use of a PC. All in all, the Canon Selphy CP760 could be described as the entry-level printer in the Selphy range. However, it is equipped with the majority of the features found in its more expensive sister models.
