The Beauty Of Gel Candles

Due to the fact that the flame will last longer and it’s relatively easy to make them, a lot of people are turning to candle making as a hobby, particularly gel candles.  There are however those that like to make the gel candles but like to know a bit more about them and for those people the following are some facts that you may find interesting.

Gel candles are composed of a transparent wax substance that shines when it is lit.  This particular type of candle is on the rise in popularity due to the fact that you can embedded objects into the candle  giving it a unique look.  One popular design is by including glitter into the gel so that when the candle is lit it gives the entire candle a shimmery look.

If you like to have candles around the home purely for decoration then gel is ideal because the embedded items make the candle a very decorative feature.  You can add things such as dried fruits, crystals, beads, or other various items you may find in a craft shop. It is important to find things that are not highly flammable since the wick will be so close to the items.  You can also add scents to the candles which will make the candles even more unique and personal to you.

Along with adding scents and objects you can also pick and choose the specific color you would like to add to the gel.  You can really get creative by mixing and matching different dyes together.  One important thing to consider is that if you want to make darker candles such as reds, dark blues, purples or even black candles, you may not be able to see the embedded objects.  You will need to think about this before coloring.

Making your own candles is not only cost effective but the candles themselves will look like you paid good money for them. They are ideal for gifts to your friends, families and coworkers because you can customize them to each persons liking. You can pick a persons favorite colors, objects or scents and they can proudly display them at their home or work desk.
