Subwoofer speakers are used to create the low end of the full audio spectrum. A computer subwoofer gives the computer user the full sound experience for watching movies, listening to music or playing video games. With a good quality set of computer subwoofers attached to your personal computer, you will get theater-quality sound and bass for all of your downloads and activities.
For instance, if you happen to be a fan of horror movies and you have decided to download a horror movie onto your computer, while you watch you will be able to hear all of the creepy sound effects from creaking stairs to whistling wind like you are a part of the movie or watching it in the theater.
However, the smart and informed shopper will not buy only one computer subwoofer speaker. For quality sound, a pair of two subwoofer speakers is really the best way to go. The pair together will create the true sounds for any song, game or film for the best listening experience. You can also make it so that you view the film on your television, but still get the sound from your quality computer subwoofer speakers.
The discerning and careful shopper would also keep in mind the room’s size where the computer is placed, and buy a system accordingly. For instance, the Altec Lansing BXR1221 speaker system will probably be all right if you are watching a movie in a small room such as a dorm room or small bedroom. But, in a large room like a living room or home theater you might want to go with something like the Logitech Z2300 with a 12″ subwoofer instead.
You should also take into account whether or not you have an amplifier before you go shopping. A passive system will only have a speaker, but an active system is self-powered and will have its own amplifier.
