The CES computer show in 2008 surprised the world with the introduction of the Digital Audio Video Experience device. This unit, also known as DAVE, provided a way to store, connect, and move your digital life by providing a hard drive that could connect wirelessly with up to 60 Gigabytes of storage. This device was mainly built to work with smart phones, and can work with platforms like Windows Mobile, Palm, Symbian, or any OS that has Wi-Fi or Bluetooth capabilities.

Seagate wireless hard drives only weigh 106 grams, making them the perfect size for slipping into a back pocket, purse or back pack. Even while it is tucked away, it is still able to connect to your phone or PC, allowing you to view videos, music, or transfer information. The platform also allows users to combine video and audio files downloaded via mobile networks and transfer it to other PC devices. The DAVE project is completely customizable and will be branded as an accessory for mobile handsets. Seagate themselves will not be selling this product, but rather handing out the license to other manufacturers. You will most likely see their drives sold with a case that contains the brand of a Palm device.

The wireless connection of this drive is quite powerful and it will stay connected for a distance of up to 30 feet. The capacity of 60 gigabytes is very large, especially since this is one of the only external wireless drives available. Video streams quite well, at about 320×240 for pixel resolution. Although the casing is small, it is extremely safe and come incorporated with free fall protection to help it with stand mishaps and accidents. One of the best features is that it is high customizable. Seagate designed it so that it could easily be branded by other mobile devices, and they could change the styling of the case to best suit their manufacturing needs.
