Replacing your broken golf cart charger

If your current golf cart battery charger is no longer functioning, you will need to buy a new one. You do not have to buy an OEM charger, as aftermarket chargers work just as well. Aftermarket chargers are readily available over the Internet. Some of the more popular brands for golf carts include Club Car, and Yamaha. You can usually buy golf car chargers over the Internet, or you can buy them from your local golf cart supplier.
If you do want to buy an OEM charger, you will need to know what type of golf cart your own. The easiest way to find out is to check the owner’s manual for the model information. If you know longer have your owner’s manual, you can also find this information out by obtaining the serial number of your golf cart. The serial number is usually located on a small stamped piece of steel model which is attached rectally to the chassis of the golf cart. You can call the manufacturer of the golf cart correctly, once you have the serial number information. They will be able to tell you what type of golf cart charging system you need.
Golf cart charging systems typically will come in 36 and 48 V DC configurations. If you plan on storing your golf cart for the wintertime, it is also extremely important that you do not let them fully discharge. When your batteries in your golf cart are fully drained, they will never be able to maintain a regular charge again. The best option is to make sure you have a trickle battery charger. These charger devices will basically keep your batteries in a fully charged state while you store your golf cart over the winter time. Properly maintained batteries will last usually approximate 1000 full charging cycles. If you live in northern states, you can expect that your batteries will usually last about 4 to 5 years as long as you keep them properly maintained.
