Suffering through the searing pain of a migraine can be a horrible experience. Unlike a normal headache, a migraine is not something which is a minor nuisance. The pain from a migraine can be debilitating and is not easy to deal with. There are drugs which are available which can often help ease the pain of these headaches, but many people prefer not to take any drugs at all. Also, many of these migraine drugs can produce unwanted side effects which may be worse than the migraine itself. However, for those wanting a natural migraine treatment there is hope. While not totally eliminating the migraine, there are natural ways to deal with the onset which may reduce the length of time. By simply eliminating noise, lying down, and learning to relax your breathing you may be able to deal with your migraines naturally. Once you feel a migraine starting to come on it is very important to begin the process of preparing for this onset as soon as possible. The first step is to eliminate any noise in the home where possible. Turn off all televisions and radios and any other items creating noise. If other family members are present in the home, inform them of your condition and ask them to go about their business quietly. The next step in your natural migraine treatment is to find a place to lie down and relax. Ideally, this should be a dark room which is as comfortable as possible. Try to use a bedroom which is as far away from the center of the home as possible. This will also help eliminate any noise from other family members. If migraines are a persistent problem you may want to designate a bedroom which you can install blackout curtains to eliminate all light. Finally, relaxation is vital to shorten the length of your migraine. You must learn to relax your breathing to help eliminate any anxiety caused by the fear of the pain to come. There are many different breathing exercises which can be performed to help further relax your body. As mentioned, this migraine treatment will not eliminate the migraine; however, it will definitely help to shorten the experience of the pain. Just remember to eliminate all noise, find a nice relaxing place to lie down, and concentrate on your breathing. Since many people are very sensitive to light it is vitally important to reduce this light as much as possible to help shorten the length of the migraine.
