Virtually every woman has cellulite. At its best, it only becomes visible when the skin is stretched, such as when the woman turns to look at her legs in the mirror. At its worst, the lumps and bumps are obvious regardless of how the woman stands. It is possible to reduce the appearance of cellulite through treatments such as creams, exercise, massage and even surgery.
In Europe, Ionithermie is a popular cellulite reduction treatment that originally started in France 30 years ago. It has only just made its way to the United States but it is already making a buzz among beauty clinics and dermatologists. Research from Canada and Europe has shown that Ionithermie can reduce up to 8 inches from a woman’s waist with only 1 treatment session.
In a nutshell, the Ionithermie cellulite reduction program consists of applying a layer of mud and algae over the problem area. This could be the hips, arms, thighs, tummy, butt or breasts. Using two electrodes, electrical currents are then passed through the mud and algae layer. The galvanic electrode extracts toxins and fluid that cause cellulite from the skin. The faradic electrode causes the muscles to contract and gives the client a workout equivalent to 600 steps on a stepper in the gym.
The electrical currents can feel a little strange as your muscles are working without any conscious thought to have them contract. However, it is not painful and is only uncomfortable in terms of fatiguing your muscles. The only side effect is a red skin and possibly some skin irritation.
Most people will require between 5 and 10 sessions. If you have severe cellulite you may need more than 10 treatments. The results will not last forever but generally will last for 12 months before you need to return to the beauty clinic. Eating a proper diet and exercise will help the results to last longer.
