How To Find A Cheap Badminton Set

Posted on June 25, 2010 | Category: Featured, Sports Trivia

Badminton is fast becoming a popular sporting game, both casually and professionally. As a result of the game’s growing popularity, a large number of brand name manufacturers of sporting equipment are producing quality badminton sets for both casual and professional playing purposes. Some of these brand name producers include Wilson, Carlton, and Spalding (also known for making high quality basketball hoops). If you are a professional or serious badminton player, quality usually does not come cheap. For the purpose of professional play, you are not likely to find a cheap badminton set.

If you are simply the casual player searching for a set for recreation however, you are in luck! The majority of badminton sets found in the sporting goods section of department stores are offered at very reasonable prices. These badminton sets may even include added extras such as volleyball or extra shuttlecocks. Another possibility for finding a cheap badminton set lies in your local newspaper. Check out some of the local yard sales and flea markets listed, or even the miscellaneous section. You may just luck into finding a higher quality cheap badminton set that someone has decided to do away with.

Before purchasing a badminton set, you should ensure that it contains a standard, quality net. If the net is made of a sturdy, quality material it is less likely to tear or rip quickly. Nets are available in such materials as nylon, vinyl, and polyethylene. The net should be of a dark color and the cords should be approximately 15 millimeters in thickness. A strong cord should hold up the net between the two poles.

Standard regulations in the game of badminton call for the net to be five feet in the center and one inch higher on either side. The depth of the net should be at two feet, six inches. While a casual badminton game may not call for a regulation net, you should look for a badminton set that contains a sturdy net of a dark color. More about the equipment that should be included in a badminton set can be learned by visiting Badminton Set Central.
