This a3 printer review will focus on the HP Laserjet 8000. The 8000 is a black and white laser printer that is capable of a3 and ledger-size prints. The number one thing that stands out about this model is that it’s much cheaper than most a3 printers. You should be able to find new, refurbished, and used units ranging anywhere from $200 to $350 on Amazon. Considering most a3 printers sell for at least $500 and can run into the thousands, this is a great deal. Of course, the 8000 can’t do some things the more expensive models can, but if you’re just looking for the basics, this is a great option.
Print resolution for the HP Laserjet 8000 can reach as high as 1200 x 1200 dots per inch. This is standard for these types of printers. For speed, it can print up to 24 pages per minute. This is also about average. A more impressive stat is that it’s capable of holding up to 1100 sheets, which is on the high end. As is the case with most a3 printers, duplexing is optional. There is a parallel interface, but no wireless option, which is one reason why this model is cheaper. That said, this can still be used as a workgroup printer. It can even handle large offices. Its maximum duty cycle is 300,000 pages per month.
The 8000 is PC and Mac-compatible. One of its biggest selling points is simplicity. It’s one of the few a3 printers that are designed for high volume situations but also with novice users in mind. HP likes to stress a few new features for this machine, which are the capability to handle a variety of media, more paper-handling options, solid performance, an improvement in networking traffic, and reduction of cost. To HP’s credit, all of these advertisements are accurate.
The 8000 is 21.3 x 20.5 x 21.3 inches and weighs 99 lbs. It has a 133 MHz processor, as well as 16MB of memory with the option to expand to 192MB. The ink cartridge should produce around 15,000 pages. Decibel levels can reach as high as 57, which isn’t loud, but it’s not as quiet as many other a3 printers. The 8000 comes with a 1-year warranty and should only be used in temperatures between 50 and 90 degrees.
Hopefully, this a3 printer review will help you with your decision.
