How To Choose A Hair Restoration Treatment

Posted on December 30, 2009 | Category: Hair Trivia

lots_of_hairOver 60% of all men in the world will experience hair loss and balding and some point in their lives.  Some men are OK with this fact but for others thinning hair can be a traumatic experience.  In the West we tend to think a man’s hair is a mark of his strength and virility.  In fact, a study in England showed that given two pictures of the same man, one picture with a full head of hair and one with a receding hair line, women chose the picture with the hair four out of five times more often than the one showing the hair loss.  Whether we like it or not, how much hair a man has is important.

When choosing a hair restoration treatment it is important to remember that there are two stages to hair loss and the treatments are very different depending on where you are at in the hair loss continuum.  The first stage is hair thinning.  This is when you start to notice extra hairs on your pillow or the floor of the shower.  At his point your main concern should be keeping the hair you already have.  This means you want to choose a treatment that concentrates on attacking the hair loss problem head on.  A good DHT blocker is important when choosing hair loss products as DHT is the hormonal element that actually causes the hair follicles to stop producing hair.  If you can limit the amount of DHT you can actually protect your hair for years.

The other side of the coin is what do you do when you have already experienced the balding.  At this point, once the hair follicles have been rendered useless, the only option is to implant new hair units into the bald area.  This procedure has become very common and is the method of choice for actors and politician who want to continue to look young and virile.

Your choice of which method to use is dependent on how early you choose to attack the problem  The earlier you start the easier and quicker the results will be.
