Anyone who has been camping before knows how limited space can be. Since every little inch can make a difference it makes picking a tent size crucial when you go to purchase a new one. Large cabin style tents can be great for families while selecting a one person tent might be ideal for people hiking into their campsites.
If you are camping with your family you are going to want as spacious of a tent as possible. Some cheap tents are equipped with more than one room allowing people to feel like they have their own space. If you don’t need the other room for people to sleep in, it can still be a useful way of storing your things especially if you like to bring a lot with you. An added room can also add a living or dining area to help you feel a little more like you are at home. Camping with your teenagers can add a whole new dimension. In this case you might be better off getting two smaller tents; one for them and one for you.
Small groups, single campers or anyone that doesn’t have the liberty of driving to their campsite will want to get a smaller and lighter tent. A small backpacking tent or bivy is great for a single camper unless you want a little space to sit up. These tents can be very small and can leave very little room except to let you sleep. Taller people might find it difficult to fit in this type of shelter.
Minimalists will also enjoy smaller tents. The fewer things you bring the less you have to store which allows you to cut back on the size you need. Cyclists can purchase tents that allow for the use of their front bike wheel instead of poles. This can help reduce the size and weight.
