Most people who have cell phones these days are interested in knowing about the latest and greatest technology. There is a new technology that is available for private citizens to use called free cell phone tracking. Many people have watched television shows or movies where they see somebody punch a few buttons on a computer and the next thing you know they have tracked down the location of the villain through their cell phone.
Free cell phone tracking doesn’t quite work that way but its close. The only difference is that in order for free cell phone tracking applications to work, the user must first install special software onto their cell phone in order for it to be able to be located with one of these cell phone tracker services.
Some of the more popular free cell phone tracking applications that are available for people to use are Google Latitude, Glympse, Find My iPhone, and MobiWee. Each one of these applications will only support certain cell phones and in most cases the cell phones must be the modern programmable smart phones. This is because a special software application must be downloaded and installed on the phone in order for it to work.
There is a cell phone tracking application from Sprint called the Sprint Family Locator that doesn’t require you to download and install any special software but it only works with Sprint and Nextel cell phones and you must be a Sprint customer in order to use it.
If you’re worried that people will start tracking your location with your cell phone, you can relax because at least at the current time, there are no applications that allow individuals to simply track your location with your cell phone number. You have to install the cell phone tracking application on your phone and configure it properly in order for your phone to be able to be located with the service.
