In the early 1900s, Joseph Pilates designed Pilates machines. His design and vision still works to this day. Pilate machines are designed to keep people fit. They improve cardiovascular fitness, tone the body, as well as improve a person’s overall well-being. Not only that, but they are designed to tone in a way that does not add excess bulk to the body. The machines have different variations and each provides an alternative way to have a low impact, but conditioning workout.
Despite their variations, each machine will provide benefits. Some of the general benefits include things such as: enhancing control, centering, concentration, and a person’s breathing. They can improve flexibility, muscle tone, and posture. Along with all of this, they can also strengthen and stretch the abdominal and back muscles.
One popular machine is the Cadillac. It is sometimes referred to as the Rack or the Trapeze Table. Over eighty different exercises can be performed on this machine. One can even hang upside-down by their feet from the top frame. Mat work can also be performed on it. Basically, the machine looks like a massage table with a padded top. There is a metal frame that extends from all of its edges, which holds springs, a swing, sheep skin foot loops, as well as a push-through bar.
A second popular machine is the Reformer. This is a padded jump board that is made of wood. It helps to reach and maintain a target heart rate throughout the workout. It’s also a favorite because it’s low impact, which causes less stress on the joints.
There are many different Pilate machines to choose from. To get the most out of a workout, one should find what works best for them. Each has different benefits, so it’s a matter of preferences. Think about your goals, as well as your budget when choosing. No matter the choice, you’ll be sure to get a good workout. It will only be a matter of time before your cardiovascular fitness, tone, and overall well-being are showing improvement. You’ll be fit without the excess bulk that other workouts may give you.
