Are you extremely nervous and anxious to get in the car and drive for the first time in your life? Being scared to drive is very common, especially if you are inexperienced and it is your first time to do so. This particular reaction is natural and normal since it really takes a huge amount of skill and lots and lots of practice if you want to become an excellent driver.
First timers are typically scared of driving due to the fact that they are bombarded with pre-conceived notions and tons of misconceptions with regards to driving and oftentimes, this provides a hindrance for them. Self confidence is extremely important as well because it takes guts to take full control and responsibility of handling a vehicle.
Driving involves staying focused and the determination to reach your destination and not causing any accidents or mishaps to other vehicles or people whom you share the road with. You can begin by choosing an experienced driving coach or instructor. Choose a teacher who is calm and does not have the tendency of yelling and screaming at his or her student each time they make a mistake. Proper learning will only happen if the surrounding or the environment is conducive, so it is very important that the instructor you pick does not and will not give you an uncomfortable feeling.
You can begin with a simple “dress rehearsal†or run-through once you are inside the car. Before you hit the ignition, go through each and every motions of driving it. Take away all possible things that can distract and interrupt with your concentration. Turn down the radio and switch your phone off. Make everything a constructive and positive experience. Erase your feelings of self-doubt and failure and only think about constructive and positive thoughts.
