Ideally, when you’re planning and decorating a wedding you want to tie all of the details together to form one or two conducive themes especially for something as important as themed wedding centerpieces. Perhaps the bride and groom have already thought of a specific wedding them, something that interests them or expresses who they are as a couple. If you’ve already been given a theme to decorate around, you’ll have a foundation to build from when creating centerpieces. On occasion, a couple will not have a special theme surrounding the decorations, in which case you as the decorator have complete creative freedom over how you want your centerpieces to look.
Whether the bride and groom have given you a wedding theme or not, you want to attempt to tie all of the decorating elements together. If you have a theme to build from, you have to think creatively. It can be challenging to decorate outside of the box, away from the norm of flowers, ribbons, or bubbles. You might have to make trips to special craft and hobby stores, search the internet, or even create your own centerpieces out of a variety of materials in order to achieve the theme and ambiance you are looking for.
When creating themed wedding centerpieces, it is important to follow color and style preferences. A classic fall wedding centerpiece is going to look different than an eccentric fall centerpiece. If possible, incorporate fundamental wedding colors into the centerpieces.
Some possible themed wedding centerpiece ideas, if you’ve not already started might include the beach, autumn, snowflakes, baseball, chocolate, Disney, elegant black and white, sunflowers, music, or travel. The best place to begin is to consult the bride and groom, discover their passions and interests as well as what makes them a unique couple. Find out the desired wedding colors and ideas, and go from there. As a wedding decorator, your creative nature will come out and surely design some wonderfully themed wedding centerpieces.
