There is plenty to see and do in Sydney for those on a budget. You can still have a marvelous time in this city while saving money at the same time. So if you’re traveling to Australia and need some Sydney travel tips, we’ve assembled some budget friendly attractions that you will definitely need to see while in this exciting city.

The Sydney Opera House is something that every traveler to Sydney has to see. The sail like roofs make it one of the most recognizable buildings in the whole world. The Opera House houses thousands of world-class performances each year, and even though you may not be able to experience one of these performances for yourself, you can definitely enjoy the wonderful architecture of the building and take beautiful pictures of the famous landscape.

The Rocks is one of the oldest and most historic areas within Sydney and is a great attraction for budget friendly travelers who are backpacking Australia. It is home to the original convict settlement in Sydney and has some of the city’s best restaurants as well as the very popular Rocks Market. Its two century old pebbled streets and rock terrain have been developed into an area full of things to do such as The Garrison Gallery, Susannah Place, The Military Museum, and Cadman’s Cottage. There is also the Museum of Contemporary Art and the S. H. Ervin Gallery.

The Sydney Harbor Bridge provides you with fantastic panoramic views of the harbor. However, in order to climb the Sydney Harbor Bridge you will need to book in advance and it is not the cheapest of options. For those on a budget, good alternative options are to climb to the top of the South-Eastern Pylon of the Harbor Bridge to the Pylon Lookout or to walk across the bridge on the railed-off pedestrian lane. You can still get fantastic views of the harbor from here.

And of course no trip to Sydney is complete without a trip to a few of its famous sandy beaches. Make sure to leave some time, and money, to take some surfing lessons and soak up some rays on some of the popular beaches like Bondi beach.
