Some techniques that you should be able to try on your own are used to relieve stress or anxiety. Some of these techniques include holding a small rubber ball in your hand and gently squeezing it every time you feel stressed or anxious. Another method to stop nail biting is by choosing one nails to focus on, not biting that particular nail until it has grown along, then choosing another nail, and another, until the process is complete.

Products to help stop finger nail biting are techniques in the realm of physical barriers. They either put a physical barrier such as a rubber glove or plasters, which actually cover the nails, or the physical barrier is in the form of a disgusting tasting cream or polish which is applied to the nail and prevents the person from putting their fingers into their mouths.
